What Is Reflexology? 
Reflexology is a none invasive alternative or complementary medicine therapy that has been around for thousands of years. It is based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet, hands and ears which correspond to all body parts. Using specific techniques pressure is applied to reflex points using thumb, finger and hands, therefore, causes a physiological change in the body and allows for treatment of the body as a whole.
In addition, an abundance of nerve endings in the hand, feet and ears that connect to every part of the body are found in the reflex points. Which cause an imbalance. If an organ or gland is out of balance this can be detected on the hands, feet and ears. When the body experiences pain or tension the muscles in that area contract, and that corresponding area on the feet, hands and ears will feel tender or painful. By palpating this area, the Reflex point, the practitioner can relax the muscles, and connect to the nerve endings, which will relieve the pain, and balance that organ or gland, e.g. kidney and adrenal gland. By doing reflexology we open up these nerve endings allowing the them to balance in the body. This results in reduction of stress, tension, relieves pain, and promotes good health.
Reflexology treatments generally last 30 to 60 minutes depending on the individual.
